“Blues River”

by Joe Credit III

Use a standard Blues progression

1. When you’re down, rock bottom, a bowl of beans is your best friend

A7                                                                         E

When you’re down, the tunnel seems to have no end

These times ain’t gonna get no better, baby

A7                               E

    Until the blues river ends

2. I woke up this morning--and the sun was cold and grey

I looked out the window-- what a harsh and dismal day!

I wished that I could get back in bed

And sleep the whole damn thing away

3. Got problems with my life today-- don’t know what I can do

My baby up and left me-- don’t love me like he used to

He said, “You ain’t no good for nothin’

Don’t know what’s become of you!”
