G D
Journeymen, fighters, dancers all
G D
None may escape the torrential fall
C D G
Of the the Rains of Mynndd Serren
G D
1. A traveling cartwheel of girls were we
C D G
We had journeyed from far away
G D
None realized the first peal of thunder
C D G
Was legend begun that day
D G
CH: And the streets all ran like a river
C D G
Fed from a lake in heaven
C G
Any who were drenched were also blessed
D G
By the Rains of Mynndd Serren
G D
2. Gentlefolk frolicked, fighters took a list
C D G
And they laid on a list well dry
G D
But when the dancers joined in the fray
C D G
Their foe fell from the sky
D G
And we danced, and we danced And it rained, and it rained
D G
And we danced, and we danced And it rained, and it rained
D G
We finally stopped dancing and fled for cover…
C D
But it did not stop raining
G D
3. Next time we journeyed seeking to dance
C D G
We foot it all sheltered inside
G D
The rain thus fell and we pondered on
C D G
And danced to wait for low tide (CH)
4. Soon food, drink and ice cream called
First glance said the rain was through
First wave then second started to walk
The Rains of Mynndd Serren were back too
D G
Run from awning to doorway, when it rained and it rained
D G
Run from alcove to awning and it rained and it rained
D G
We sought cover at last by a wet red chair…
C D
But it did not stop raining
(allegro)
D G
And we ran, and we ran and it rained, and it rained
D G
And we ran, and we ran and it rained, and it rained
D G
We took cover and we stopped running…
C D
But it didn’t stop raining (CH)
5. A short distance from white mountain,
What a wondrous sight to see
O sweet and ruddy red awning,
Keep the Rains of Mynndd Serren off me (CH)
6. Hearty travelers were not we,
Puny and soaked to the skin
Our leader-- she was deathly ill,
And chilled was her next of kin (CH)
7. The rain never ceased, it let loose all night,
And we would be with awning still
If someone hadn’t pilfered Master Sion’s brolly,
Something for which we would all kill (CH)
8. Drier now, I sing this jolly song,
There’s a warning and a moral plain
If you travel far to Mynndd Serren,
Be prepared for a little rain
