“Crystal Realization”

By Brenda Allen Moser

(sung a capella)

         G                                 D    G

1. She bought a fortune in rocks from the Lapidary

     G                                     D

Now all her money has turned to piles of stone

          G                                    D  G

If she’d bought gold or diamonds, that’d been dandy

     G                                  D    G

But she bought granite, white rock and limestone

2. Now what she saw in boulders, I’ll always wonder

Why didn’t she buy crystals that sparkle and shine?

Though slate and shale are common, she liked their thunder

The basest of minerals, yes, she liked them fine

3. Now you’re asking me why does it matter?

Why do I moan and cry and tell this sad story?

When she left she said my bag of crystals would grow fatter

But I didn’t know she was going to leave me a quarry!
